Economic Youth - The law introduces the article "NGUYEN THI DINH - THE LEGENDARY PRINCIPLE OF THE LONG HAIR MILITARY TEAM" - The woman sacrifices her life for the revolutionary career!

In the 20th century, female general Nguyen Thi Dinh was one of the most deserving Vietnamese women with eight golden letters "Hero, indomitable, generous, sure".

When a beautiful woman chooses the path of pain

General Nguyen Thi Dinh was born on March 15, 1920, the youngest of 10 children in a farmer family in Luong Hoa commune, Giong Trom district, Ben Tre province. Growing up, the youngest girl, Dinh, became a beautiful young woman, was married to a rich man by her family. But being enlightened to revolution since she was 16 years old, she decided to choose Bich - one of the comrades working with her brother.

They lived together for short happy days before Mr. Bich went to work. Then the months of thunderstorms struck. When the child was born for 3 days, Ut Dinh accepted that her husband was sentenced to 5 years in prison and 5 years in exile. On July 19, 1940, she and her 7-month-old son were arrested. They brought her son and her to the Kham La Ben Tre and forced her to send her son home before the exile to Ba Ra. There, she received the news that Mr. Bich had died in Con Dao.

In extreme pain, she still remembers her husband's words, "Engaging in the revolutionary path is to be imprisoned, death", remembering comrades and prisoners. That made her energetic to stand firm until she was released from prison. In 1944, Nguyen Thi Dinh made contact with the Viet Minh movement and plunged into revolutionary activities again. During the August Revolution, the 25-year-old widow held the flag leading thousands of people taking over Ben Tre town.

After the revolution, Nguyen Thi Dinh was elected to the Provincial Party Committee of Ben Tre. Since then, she and the local leaders organized the resistance war for the people of Ben Tre. After the Geneva Agreement was signed In 1954, she decided to stay in the South to fight.

At the beginning of 1960, she was one of the leaders of Ben Tre Dong Khoi and was the direct leader of the Dong period of the first phase (January 17, 1960) with the core of the women. The council kicked off, opening the Dong Khoi movement in the province and the whole South later.

The name of Nguyen Thi Dinh, which comrades and upper people usually called Ba Dinh, was associated with the start-up as the tidal wave pervaded, spread throughout the South. Later, Uncle Ho called Nguyen Thi Dinh's army as "long hair military team".

In the following years, Ms. Ba Dinh was assigned new responsibilities. And she affirmed her talent as a female general. She has commanded the units of civil war, propaganda and guerilla of agencies and unions to fight the enemy, pushing the battle of Giongxon City - the biggest US puppet battle in February 1967.

"In the whole world, only our country  has such a female general”

In 1965, President Ho Chi Minh talked about Nguyen Thi Dinh: "In the whole world, only our country  has such a female general. What a glorious thing for the South, for our people.”

This seems to be a prophecy, when in 1974, Ba Dinh was formally promoted to the rank of Major General. And in the spring of 1975, among the five great armies advancing to liberate Saigon, there was female General Nguyen Thi Dinh in the role of Deputy General Commander of the liberation army.

The special historical role of Nguyen Thi Dinh was once again emphasized by the historian Professor Christine Whate (University of Hawaii, USA) in a letter to the Vietnamese female general.

In the letter there is a paragraph saying: "I feel very honored to write this letter to visit you - a famous woman and have an important role in world history, an example of a true woman. I am very happy to use her memoirs to teach my students about the Vietnamese revolutionary tradition. ”

A sister, a close and simple mother

Those who knew Major General Nguyen Thi Dinh stated that she was a very simple, intimate and devoted person to everyone as a sister.

In the war zone, she was often busy with a black “Áo bà ba” [1], a bandana, a hat, and slippers (rubber sandals) like all other female guerrillas. Sharing good  and bad times with soldiers, her shoulder was always wearing a bag to get ready to take the tablet, a piece of sugar when in the middle of a business trip to meet certain soldiers fever.

As a gentle sister and mother, she devoted herself to taking care of the food and clothes for warriors, especially men. In the middle of working hard, she still understood the most little and simple features of soldiers. Many times, she created conditions for cadres and soldiers who are busy fighting to create a family with a chance to learn their partners and get married.

Later, when Ba Dinh became a general, then a senior officer of the State, Ba Dinh's way of life in harmony with everyone remained unchanged. Live forever in the hearts of the people and friends for years

At 22h50 on August 26, 1992, the legendary female general Nguyen Thi Dinh left permanently.

The people of Hat Mon commune (Phuc Tho, Hanoi) set up the altar of female general Nguyen Thi Dinh in Hai Ba Trung temple as a new god, to the heroes to meet the hero. The name Nguyen Thi Dinh was also given to a village in Cuba and many streets and schools in Vietnam. During the anti-American resistance period, many women in the world also admired and named her for their children.

Writer Nguyen Ngoc commented: "Perhaps she is a Vietnamese with the most friends in the world, from ordinary people to famous heads of state and many different political regimes ... She brought friends to the nation. And that is one of the most important factors that decided the strange victory of Vietnam in the last century.
