VNU Campus

Vietnam National University – Ho Chi Minh City (VNU-HCM) was established in January 1995 as a national multi-disciplinary university, formed by the merger of existing universities in Ho Chi Minh City. Chartered by the Government, its mission has been to become Vietnam’s premier institution of higher education, so as to better serve the country and its community. 


VNU-HCM is currently comprised of five member universities, one research institute, one faculty and a number of centers. These include:University of Technology, University of Natural Sciences, University of Social Sciences and Humanities, International University, University of Information Technology, Institute for Environment and Resources, Faculty of Economics, Foreign Language Center, Center for International Education, Center for Educational Testing and Quality Assessment, Center of French Universities... In addition, VNU-HCM High School for the Gifted has produced many laureates in international contests for asthematics, chemistry, physics, computer science and biology. 

 

To comprehend the scale of our university, one should view our campus population figures that reveal it has over 3,400 staff (of which more than 2,000 are teaching staff) and 50,000 full-time undergraduate and graduate students. Presently, it offers 120 academic programs for bachelor degrees, 90 for master and 90 for doctorate degrees. With government support, the University is also building new, modern and well-equipped campuses on a 645 hectare area, where its administrative headquarters is now located. 

With the vision of becoming a prominent university in this region and beyond, VNU-HCM is constantly expanding its academic programs and upgrading its facilities so as to maximize the students’ potentialities, hence preparing them well for the requirements of a global economy.
