The Honoring Ceremony for Prof. Dr. Michel Grimaldi at University of Economics and Law

On September 16, 2022, the University of Economics and Law solemnly held a ceremony to honor Prof. Dr. Michel Grimaldi who is Professor Emeritus of Panthéon Assas Paris II University. On this occasion, the thematic seminar on “New points of the French civil code” was chaired by Prof. Dr. Michel Grimaldi.

The ceremony has the honorary attendance of Mr. HEGEDUS Bela - collaboration Attaché, Head of Law, Justice, and Administration Department of the French Embassy in Vietnam. Regarding to the University of Economics and Law, it is a great pleasure to have the participation of the ceremony had also welcomed with pleasure the presence of Assoc. Prof. Dr. Le Vu Nam - Vice President of UEL, Assoc. Prof. Dr. Nguyen Thi Hong Nhung - Dean of Faculty of Law, Assoc. Prof. Dr. Doan Thi Phuong Diep - Department of Legal Affairs, Dr. Tran Quang Long - Director of the International Institut, Mr. Le Van Hinh - Head of Department of collaboration and Development. with all UEL’s scholars, French and Vietnamese students in Law.

Delivering speech at the ceremony, The representative of the President Board indicated that  in recent years, the University of Economics and Law, VNU HCM has had achieved many effective collaborations in training high-quality human resources, and implemented programs, and projects. The project, which is being launched in collaboration with prestigious French universities, especially with the Panthéon-Assas Paris II university. The collaboration has resulted in the development of joint training programs in International Business Law, student exchange programs, etc. These program have validated the prestige and training quality of University of Economics and Law. These programs have defined the interest of investment of the University's leaders, the participation and support of staff and learners. this collaboration must be especially mentioning the important role as a key bridge of Prof. Dr. Michel Grimaldi, Professor Emeritus of the Pantheon-Assas Paris II university.

The Honoring Ceremony for Prof. Dr. Michel Grimaldi had been followed by a thematic seminar titled  "Introducing new points in the French civil code" with a report and a sharing perspective of Prof. Dr. Michel Grimaldi in this regard.

At the program, Prof. Dr. Michel Grimaldi presented a thematic report "Introducing new points in the French civil code" to scientists and students.

Prof. Dr. Michel Grimaldi was born in 1949 in Paris. Currently, he is a Professor Emeritus in private law at Paris II Panthéon-Assas University. Furthermore, he has contributed tremendously to Vietnam's civil law through discussions on changing the Civil Code.

With his great contributions and boundless passion for studying law, he was awarded the title of Professor Emeritus accordingly from Mendoza University, Argentina, and Inca Garcilaso De La Vega University, Lima, Peru in 1998 and 2000. Furthermore, he received honorary doctorates from the University of Liege, Belgium, and from the University of Babes-Bolyai, Romania, and UCLouvain, Belgium in 2016. He hence was knighted with “The Legion of Honor and the Academic Palms” decoration by the French government for his great dedication to the Law Study. In addition, he was granted the title Professor Emeritus at the University of Paris II.
