PROFESSIONAL TRIPS OUTSIDE THE UNITED STATES DURING THE PAST 10 YEARS

Living in the United state of America for an extended period, I have found out that living abroad thrive on the new challenges, thrill to the novelty, gain enormous satisfaction from overcoming each new problem successfully, and rewarded with a sense of achievement and personal growth.  Between different states and countries, I had amassed a ton of cross-cultural experiences, so I think of myself as being able to adapt to anything.  I have realized how important the right attitude and open mind is.

Saint Mary’s University, Bayombong, Philippines, August 4-22, 2014.  Provided 10-day crash course on entrepreneurship and was a key speaker on the regional entrepreneurship seminar held on August 16, 2014 at the Saint Mary’s University.  Participants were about 800 business students and faculty from the eight regional universities.  I felt so special in this trip almost like a celebrity.  Every student wanted to have a picture with me both as an individual and as a group.

Attended Global Studies Conference, Rio De Janeiro, Brazil, July 18-20, 2011

Ho Chi Minh State Universities, March 3-11, 2011.  Accompanied some NCCU undergraduate students to Ho Chi Minh Universities, March 3-11, 2011 and in return, I provided some workshops on Financial Planning and simulation in Business Strategy Game to the Vietnamese students.

Attended 2010 Academy of Management Annual Meeting, August 6-10, 2010, Montreal, Canada.

Professional Development in International Business, MERCOSUR Program (Brazil, Argentina, and Chile), sponsored by the University of Memphis CIBER, May 7-19, 2010.

The MERCOSOR FDIB explored how Brazil, Argentina and Chile were dealing with the global economic crisis and hoe the “change” in the U.S. would affect bilateral relations and the regional trading.  This was one of my best experiences living abroad over two weeks in South America, visiting Brazil, Argentina, and Chile.

School of Communication and Management Studies (SCMS), Cochin, India, Dec. 25, 2009 till Jan. 18, 2010.  Provided a workshop to MBA students at SCMS on developing business plan.  I also coordinated some collaborative efforts with some professors at ACMSI to conduct a research on effects of culture on success of outsourcing.  I had some amazing experiences.

Faculty Development in International Business (FDIB) program to Poland, Bulgaria and Turkey, sponsored by the University of North Carolina at Chapel Hill CIBER, 2009.
My first trip to Eastern Europe was a CIBER trip to Poland, Bulgaria and Turkey in 2009.  I learned an enormous amount from that trip, and it led to some professional and scholarly contacts.  Those experiences led to several other trips, including India, Brazil, Argentina, and Chile.

Singapore, attended the Assessment Seminar and Assurance of Learning Seminar. 2008.

This interactive seminar helped me to be a major player in the development and implementation of an Assurance of Learning (AOL) in the School of Business at NCCU.  Working as a team - sharing ideas, teaching skills, learning assessment and different perspectives - was an amazing opportunity and really encouraged me to be innovative.  Working with teachers around the globe was an incredible lesson for me.
